A bit of Ink a Stamp and a Simple white Doily and any place setting can be Special!

Create this a custom place setting look with very simple items!

Here the place setting is for a luncheon or cake -

You will need:
  • 1 stamp (of our choice) use an intial or Best Wishes - Congratulation - etc!
  • Ink Pad - I purchased this at a "big box" office supply store
  • White paper floral edge doily  8" inches
  • Glass plate - 7" inches

Most craft stores or on-line resources have a wide selection of stamps and colors of ink!
Stamping is very easy to do - and is great way to customize white paper doilies.

In the example here I used a doily that is only 1 inch larger then the plate - you can use a smaller doily or larger - the look is up to you!

Don't stress out about getting the stamp perfectly in the center.    You can use a ruler if you like and put a small dot to mark the center --- I chose to do by sight.

In this example a 12" square doily is used and a 9" inch clear dinner plate.

Voila - so pretty!

Here is the sample 9" glass dinner place used with a 12" round lace doily.

The look can be as varied as your imagination! Enjoy -----

Wrap your Silverware in Doilies! adds a bit of Posh to any event!

Plastic "silverware" gets dressed up for any event with a bit of ribbon and doilies (of course!).

I have two techniques here - one is the simple wrap and the other is the "fan fold".
Both are super easy - and really dress up a buffet table.

These are samples of the roll up - each fastened with different material.
From left to right:
  • Wide ribbon (using double sided tape)
  • Black Tulle cut to ribbon width
  • Blue ribbon 1/4 inch width
  • Gold fabric covered elastic

These are samples of the "fan fold" - each fastened with different material.
From left to right:

  • Wide ribbon (using double sided tape)
  • White Tulle cut to ribbon width
  • Blue ribbon 1/4 inch width
  • Sheer pink ribbon with sequins

I like the fan - it gives the set a bit more polish...

This is very easy to accomplish - just fold the doily in 1/4 folds across the entire doily.
Nest the silverware in center and tie!

For those of you who need a visual... please follow along:

3 pc set of "silverware"
1 6" inch paper doily
1 pc of ribbon/lace/twine etc - 12 inches long

Turn doily over - so it is "good side" facing down/

Fold exactly (more or less) in half.

Fold back one side to create an approximately 1/4 "fold".

Repeat until one side is completely folded.

Flip over and fold the other side the same way.

Now doily is folded into one "strip" approximately 1/4 to 1/2 wide.

Release and doily will have fan folds.

Nestle the silverware in center fold.

Pinch doily together and add ribbon.

Voila! so pretty!

Beautiful Gift tags made from Simple items!

To make the gift tags above I used:
  • Standard Business Card Stock from any office supply store.
  • Spray paint - I used gold - but you can use any color you like
  • Small doilies or larger ones cut in pieces
  • Ribbon short lengths - narrow works best
  • Hole punches I have two one is a star the other is a "doily"
  • Tape regular or double sided or glue stick if that is what you perfer

I try to give the business cards an even coat of paint - while they are all on one sheet.

You can see from these two pictures that sometimes the paint does not go on evenly - not to worry!
The tags still come out great!!!

After the paint drys you are ready to create your tags!

I chose these two cards to demonstrate that "imperfect" cards come out fine!

Fold a small doily (this one is 3.5 inches round) the bottom 1/2 of the card.

After you fold it up in the back - seal with your preferred method  - tape or glue ( I use tape ).

A simple star punch is elegant and looks beautiful for any occasion.

Loop a piece of ribbon through the punch....and your tag is ready to use!

Here are two examples one with the star the other with the "doily" punch.

Here I have really gone crazy and used a edging scissors and a foil doily on a white card.

Or just white on white with a pale blue ribbon.....perfect for wedding or shower favors.....

Amble room to write on back......I used a sharpie.

So use your imagination......and create your own selection of gift tags.

These are the instructions that a person was kind enough to share after needing to dye doilies a deep shade of purple.

Turn a simple lemon cake or pound cake into a Bake Sale Superstar!

Take one cake or stack of cookies.....

To make your item stand out!
  • Strips of paper doilies ( I find ones that are project rejects and cut them up)
  • Ribbon
  • Tags
  • Clear wrap (to wrap cake or cookies)

Cut into nice snack size pieces.

Wrap bake goods in clear plastic wrap ~

Then wrap a pretty piece of paper lace doily around ~

I used yellow ribbon because this is lemon cake

Display on a doily or just in an aluminum pan...these babies are ready to sell!
