GIFT TAGS FOR HOLIDAYS WEDDINGS OR SPECIAL EVENTS - USING DOILIES OF COURSE!

Beautiful Gift tags made from Simple items!

To make the gift tags above I used:
  • Standard Business Card Stock from any office supply store.
  • Spray paint - I used gold - but you can use any color you like
  • Small doilies or larger ones cut in pieces
  • Ribbon short lengths - narrow works best
  • Hole punches I have two one is a star the other is a "doily"
  • Tape regular or double sided or glue stick if that is what you perfer

I try to give the business cards an even coat of paint - while they are all on one sheet.

You can see from these two pictures that sometimes the paint does not go on evenly - not to worry!
The tags still come out great!!!

After the paint drys you are ready to create your tags!

I chose these two cards to demonstrate that "imperfect" cards come out fine!

Fold a small doily (this one is 3.5 inches round) the bottom 1/2 of the card.

After you fold it up in the back - seal with your preferred method  - tape or glue ( I use tape ).

A simple star punch is elegant and looks beautiful for any occasion.

Loop a piece of ribbon through the punch....and your tag is ready to use!

Here are two examples one with the star the other with the "doily" punch.

Here I have really gone crazy and used a edging scissors and a foil doily on a white card.

Or just white on white with a pale blue ribbon.....perfect for wedding or shower favors.....

Amble room to write on back......I used a sharpie.

So use your imagination......and create your own selection of gift tags.

Enjoy!

HOW TO DYE DOILIES - THE EASY WAY NEW BECOMES VINTAGE LOOK!

Pictured below - are doilies I dyed using various easy to find common items.

Tea Bags
Kool Aid
Instant Tea Mix

Tea Bag Doily Dying

What you need:
  • Paper doilies
  • Tea bags
  • Water
  • Bowl
  • Coffee filters

I used approximately 1/4 cup of water per tea bag to get the "color" seen in the first picture.,

Heat water in microwave or boil on stove.,

Add tea bags and allow to COOL - using  hot water makes the doilies SOGGY and they might tear.

Pour the cold tea water into a bowl - remove tea bags

Let doilies soak  in the tea fully submerged.

I tried soaking 5 minutes / 10 minutes / 15 minutes.

I found good success allowing doilies to dry on coffee filters - you can use paper towels also.

Here are the dried doilies left to right 5/ 10/ 15 minutes.

Three tea dyed doilies compared with white when fully dried.

Kool Aid  Doily Dying

What you need:

  • Paper doilies
  • Kool Aid / with out sugar
  • Water
  • Bowl
  • Coffee filters

Dissolve Kool Aid mix in approximately 1/2 cup of warm water.
Allow water to cool.

Soak doilies approximately 15 minutes - Fully submerged.
I used Ice Blue Rasberry Lemonade for this demo -

Doilies dyed with Kool Aid when fully dried compared to white.

Instant Tea  Doily Dying

What you need:

  • Paper doilies
  • Instant Tea
  • Water
  • Bowl
  • Coffee filters

I used one of the "water bottle" instant peach tea mix with 1/4 cup of water

Soak about 15 minutes.
Dry on coffee filters or paper towels.

DOILY POTPOURRI FLOWER HOLDERS SIMPLE ELEGANT WEDDING

 Easy to Create (as always!)

These are just a simple modification of the "tussie mussies" I have already posted.
A simple change yes! but it adds much to their versatility. Hang from windows, backs of chairs or bedroom door knobs....

They can be used by filling with potpourri or flowers! or use your imagination!

These are made with Square 10" paper doilies.

Here is all you need:

  • 10" square paper doily
  • Tape
  • Ribbon
  • Filling of your choice

Lay the doily flat with RIGHT side face up

Fold down the top edge placing the ribbon underneath.

I just used simple table to hold the edges of the "flap" down - you can use pretty stickers if you like!

Flip the doily over (wrong side to you ) and fold up the "bottom" corner slightly about 1"in.

Roll  the doily to a point - using your hand as a guide

Use a small piece of tape or petty stickers to "hold edge" to from the point.

Tie the ribbon in a bow - and trim if necessary....

Open your imagination......and fill.
