HOW TO DYE DOILIES - THE EASY WAY NEW BECOMES VINTAGE LOOK!

Pictured below - are doilies I dyed using various easy to find common items.

Tea Bags
Kool Aid
Instant Tea Mix

Tea Bag Doily Dying

What you need:
  • Paper doilies
  • Tea bags
  • Water
  • Bowl
  • Coffee filters

I used approximately 1/4 cup of water per tea bag to get the "color" seen in the first picture.,

Heat water in microwave or boil on stove.,

Add tea bags and allow to COOL - using  hot water makes the doilies SOGGY and they might tear.

Pour the cold tea water into a bowl - remove tea bags

Let doilies soak  in the tea fully submerged.

I tried soaking 5 minutes / 10 minutes / 15 minutes.

I found good success allowing doilies to dry on coffee filters - you can use paper towels also.

Here are the dried doilies left to right 5/ 10/ 15 minutes.

Three tea dyed doilies compared with white when fully dried.

Kool Aid  Doily Dying

What you need:

  • Paper doilies
  • Kool Aid / with out sugar
  • Water
  • Bowl
  • Coffee filters

Dissolve Kool Aid mix in approximately 1/2 cup of warm water.
Allow water to cool.

Soak doilies approximately 15 minutes - Fully submerged.
I used Ice Blue Rasberry Lemonade for this demo -
